Can the Bible be used to deceive us?

Logical conjunctives are critical to correctly interpreting the Word of God.

Here is an excerpt from my latest book “The Death of Christian Thought: The Deception of Humanism and How to Protect Yourself.”

“A logical conjunctive is the place where a biblical freedom/benefit and a biblical restriction to that freedom/benefit overlap to identify truth and produce positive effects. Many of the doctrines of the Bible are logical conjunctives to keep us on the narrow path to happiness and eternal life. But when we try to apply the freedom side of the conjunctive without restriction, we can become a Gnostic/emergent. When we try to apply the restriction side to others without the freedom, we can become a Judaizer/legalist. These were the two false movements Paul continually fought and disarmed using the correctly interpreted Word of God. Both miss the narrow path of truth.

God dealt with His people using conjunctives. Even some of God’s Old Testament covenants with His people were stated as conjunctives, giving the people a freedom/benefit with a limitation/restriction.”

Salvation through the blood of Jesus Christ seals the promise of forgiveness of sins for true believers. But how does the Bible say we are saved by the sacrifice of Jesus? Through a logical conjunctive –Benefit: Forgiveness of sin: Restriction: Confess, repent, and faith in Christ alone. If we do not walk in the logical conjunctive regarding salvation, we will fail to find the narrow gate. Jesus said: “Enter by the narrow gate. For the gate is wide and the way is easy that leads to destruction, and those who enter by it are many. For the gate is narrow and the way is hard that leads to life, and those who find it are few.” (Matthew 7:13-14)

On one side of the narrow gate are the Judaizers/Legalists who believe their righteous deeds earn them heaven. On the other side are the Gnostics/Emergents who believe sin no longer matters, and God’s love alone gets us into heaven. Jesus said the way is hard that leads to life, but that bothers Americans and many Christians who have been pampered, spoiled, and coddled materialistically and spiritually. Both extreme legalists and extreme Emergents risk eternal damnation. The legalist will raise the bar on salvation for the individual, exceeding the teachings of the gospel, just like the Pharisees. Emergents risk eternal damnation on the other side of the spectrum. By discounting the Word of God and biblical doctrines and principles, they cause others to stumble into sin and disobedience.”

God’s Word contains many logical conjunctives to help us understand His teachings and path to eternal life with Him. Not understanding His conjunctives leads us to wrong beliefs and puts us at risk for subtle but dangerous deception.
